ALPSP Annual Conference 2025

September 10, 2025 - September 12, 2025

The annual ALPSP conference returns in September and this year’s event will focus on ‘Practical Implementation’, with the aim of enabling attendees to gain confidence in taking necessary steps to position their organizations appropriately for the challenges of today and tomorrow.

Creative professionals must learn how to design documents that are accessible for people with vision and hearing impairments, mobility and cognitive challenges, or other disabilities. Those who develop expertise in accessibility will find themselves in high demand; while those who don’t will risk falling behind.

At The Design + Accessibility Summit, delegates will learn practical techniques for building accessible documents with a wide variety of tools used by creative professionals. Inclusive Pubishing is excited that Laura Brady, accessibility ebook expert will be presenting at the summit in a session entitled “Making Accessible Ebooks from InDesign”.

With the European Accessibility Act in force since June 2025, ensuring the availability and visibility of accessibility metadata has become more important than ever. In today’s digital publishing landscape, accessibility metadata is delivered alongside core bibliographic information enabling retailers, libraries, and readers to identify whether a digital book meets their specific accessibility needs. However, the complexity and technical nature of this metadata can pose challenges, which the recent W3C User Experience Guides for Displaying Accessibility Metadata 2.0  address by offering practical guidance for user-friendly display.

This seminar will feature a roundtable discussion with representatives from Fondazione LIA, EDItEUR, Kobo, Bookwire, De Marque and Edigita, six key players leading the charge in accessible content distribution. Together, they will share how they are working to make accessibility metadata both visible and actionable, how they collaborate with publishers, and what lies ahead for the industry.
