The EAA Drives Increased LIA Foundation Membership

Accessibility is now a priority for many Italian publishers, driven by the upcoming European Accessibility Act (EAA) which comes into effect from 28 June 2025. This legislation aims to ensure that products and services are usable by everyone, including people with disabilities. It is leading to a significant transformation in our industry, involving aspects of the publishing supply chain (publishers, online bookshops and libraries, reading solutions, websites and platforms).

In 2025, the number of publishers choosing accessibility and deciding to become members of Fondazione LIA has grown significantly. Fondazione LIA are active participants in DAISY’s Inclusive Publishing Partner initiative and have a significant interest in many international projects to advance accessibility in all areas.
